lanterns by Liew Kung Yu, using texts from 'Talking Drama with Utih' articles

"more and more artists now stand at the margins of society, which the scholar and thinker Edward Said advocates as the most powerful locale of the public intellectual'.

"In fact the impact of the event was so profound that it justifies the recognition of a post 1969 perspective".

"It is the rare play that can make the audience laugh and at the same time anguish over the dark side of human behaviour".

must say this blog deserves more publicity and links outside your usual circle,i.e links from other sites like kakiseni or actors studio
suprise that kakiseni didn't reciprocate your link to them
anyway good work and BTW, the five arts centre site need a major overhaul

yes, the five arts centre website is very dead. and it doesn't reflect five arts. perhaps a five arts blog instead?

Yeah,a five arts centre site reflecting its work but still maintaining its sponsorship links would be great, i for one would't want to see a drab site as it is now, what say you ,mark

Hi,

Thanks for the comments on the five arts website. many of us at Five Arts feel exactly the same way.

Yeahlah, we know the structure of the site is quite rigid, and we are in the process of revamping it to be more canggih. With that in mind, tell us what you'd like to see more of on the new website...

Some specific ideas include many more and larger photos of course - especially the productions from the 80s. We're hoping to eventually create separate database pages for the projects we've done and including description, photos, reviews, creative and production team credits, playwright-director-choreographer-producer's notes on these pages.

Also larger interviews, commentaries and articles that are not focused on specific productions, but take a wider view or context of the work of the collective or a specific Five Arts member.

I think there can be a lot more exciting ideas that we haven't started exploring yet...
